Head of School Newsletter: March

Dear PFM Families,

February was quite the winter wonderland here in Seattle. There is something magical about the snow that helps bring out the inner child in all of us. It was lovely watching the children find so much joy in the winter weather, too, as they bundled up here at school to go out and play! That being said, I am sure that you all are as excited to see it pass as I am since it lasted so long around here this year. Way to go making it through Snowpocalypse 2019, everyone!

South class welcomed Braden Bruemmer into the classroom in February and the children have been wonderful ‘teacher helpers’ as he is getting settled in with us. In March, Luca Lee joins the infant room. Luca is Noah’s baby brother (south preschooler) and Noah is very excited to have his baby come to school with him each day! In March, Jack Bell will join south preschool and get to catch up with some of his ol’ toddler buddies. Also, Frida, a new student from outside of PFM, will join North Preschool toward the end of March. We said goodbye to Cedric in North Preschool at the end of February when his family moved.

During our In-Service Day on March 8, teachers will be participating in team-building activities, school-wide meetings and taking part in ongoing education on effective behavior management strategies, classroom management skills, and other topics of importance to us in our daily work. It isn’t very often that we all get to be together as a group so you can imagine how important these special days are to us!

We look forward to seeing you at the auction on March 16. The children’s classroom art projects have turned out amazing and we think you are really going to love them! Thank you all for your support and love so far in this process.

Have a wonderful month everyone!

February Afternoon Preschool Newsletter

Hello February~

Hello afternoon preschool parents!

Last month, the preschool students visited a winter forest. They learned about animals who hibernate and “snuggled” with bears, foxes, and owls! They also flew to the arctic to swim with narwals. After these “outdoor” adventures, they stayed around town to visit a construction site and the local veterinarian to take care of animals.

This month, the students will create and decorate boxes to hold their Valentine’s Day cards. They will enjoy working with glitter glue, sequins, and heart decals!

Afternoon Preschool Themes:

  • U.S. Postal Service

  • Home

  • Pizza parlor

  • Airport

During the early part of the month, the preschool students will enjoy learning about winter forest animals, including bears, foxes, and owls. They’ll visit a bear cave and enjoy reading books under the “night sky.” The students will also take a trip to the arctic to play on the ice and in the chilly water alongside seals, polar bears, and narwals. They’ll be surrounded by igloos and mounds of snow. We’ll have them dressed for the occasion, don’t worry!

After learning about the winter wonderland, the preschoolers will return to the city to resume their “jobs” as doctors and construction workers. It’s sure to be a fun, busy month!
